Dimapur, October 23 (MExN): Governor of Nagaland and Assam Prof Jagdish Mukhi has extended warm Diwali greetings to the people of Nagaland.

In a message on Sunday, the Governor stated that the Diwali signifies victory of light over darkness, good over evil, truth over falsehood and knowledge over ignorance.

Diwali is a festival of lights, decorating homes with colours mark the celebrations. It gives an opportunity for the people to spend time together and foster good relationships in the family, workplace and society, he stated in his message.

“On this auspicious occasion, may the spirit of the festival guide us from darkness to light. May you all be blessed with good health, joy and prosperity,” he added.

Extending Diwali greetings, Deputy Chief Minister Y Patton stated that this ‘great Indian festival of lights’ which signifies triumph of good over evil, should light up the life of everyone celebrating it.

He however expressed concerns about the random display of fireworks which becomes hazardous, a press release from the Dy CMO’s Media Cell stated.

On behalf of the state BJP legislators, he conveyed heartiest Diwali greetings and prayed that the celebrations would bring joy, peace and prosperity.

In another message, Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee President K Therie while greeting the Hindu community, expressed hope that the “celebration of good over evil and light over darkness reminds us that evil and darkness never triumph while good deeds and truth always prevail.”

May this Diwali truly be a celebration of good deeds, truth, knowledge, and light in all spheres of life. May this Deepawali usher in joy, good health and prosperity, he stated in his message.

Meanwhile, the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) Nagaland unit also extended greetings to the Hindu community of Nagaland and neighbouring states of India.

Stating that Diwali is a “festival of light and psosperity,” it expressed hope that the celebrations would spread into the lives of all the people and the society with greater joy, laughter, happiness and good health.
